Position Overview:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Specialist to join our dynamic team within the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. This role is pivotal in advancing our research initiatives focused on cancer cell signaling and precision medicine.

Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
  • Conducting laboratory research and assisting in the management of laboratory operations.
  • Independently performing experimental procedures, gathering data, and preparing samples for analysis.
  • Collaborating with the Principal Investigator to develop and refine research methodologies.
  • Planning and optimizing daily laboratory activities to achieve research objectives efficiently.
  • Training laboratory personnel in the operation of equipment and research techniques.
  • Maintaining accurate records of laboratory equipment and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Supervising support staff and managing budgetary considerations as needed.
  • Undertaking additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
Candidates must possess:
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in a laboratory technician capacity; a Master's degree may substitute for required experience, with 9 years of experience accepted in lieu of a degree.
