Position Overview:
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Specialist to join our dynamic research team within the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. This role is pivotal in advancing our research initiatives focused on cancer cell signaling and precision medicine.

Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will:
  • Conduct laboratory research and support the Principal Investigator in managing laboratory operations.
  • Independently perform experimental procedures, collect and analyze data, and prepare samples for further examination.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance research methodologies and participate in data documentation.
  • Strategically plan daily activities and optimize the use of laboratory resources to achieve research objectives.
  • Work closely with the Principal Investigator to develop research plans, interpret findings, and contribute to scientific publications and presentations.
  • Provide training to laboratory users on equipment and research techniques.
  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Oversee research support staff and assist in budget management.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:
Candidates must possess:
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in a laboratory technician capacity. A Master's degree may substitute for some experience, and 9 years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
