Job Summary

Energy Northwest is seeking a highly skilled Senior Government Affairs Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Public Affairs department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our legislative policy and strategy in coordination with our executive board, senior leadership, and the Chief Communications Officer (CCO).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and coordinate the agency's legislative policy and strategy in alignment with our executive board, senior leadership, and the CCO.
  • Co-coordinate new nuclear development strategies with our executive board and senior leadership.
  • Develop and implement an external affairs strategy in collaboration with the CCO and Public Affairs team.
  • Serve as the primary business-to-business lead and provide key support for CEO and executive engagements, including speech writing, presentations, and legislative visits.
  • Plan and implement a robust legislative engagement plan, including legislative office visits throughout Washington and periodically to D.C.
  • Manage alignment of state and federal communication and become familiar with legislative options related to Energy Northwest priorities.
  • Conduct legislative opinion interviews to receive feedback on legislative perspectives on Energy Northwest projects and initiatives.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver legislative testimony as needed.
  • Perform other internal and external public relations, including research, planning, writing, and analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in political science, public relations, communications, or a related field.
  • At least six years of legislative and/or PR experience, with a minimum of three years legislative experience.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range: $103,563.00 - $155,345.00 Annual.
  • Midpoint: $129,454.00.
  • Eligibility for annual incentive plan.
  • Substantial benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance.
  • Retirement programs, including a matching 401(k) deferred compensation plan, the Washington State Pension Plan (PERS), and a 457(b) savings plan.
  • 160 hours of personal time per year and nine paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
