POSITION SUMMARY

The role of the Procurement Specialist III is crucial in acquiring essential services and materials, particularly those related to nuclear safety operations and spare parts. This position entails managing the inventory of materials stored prior to their utilization. The Procurement Specialist III operates with a high degree of autonomy, addressing complex procurement challenges to align with Energy Northwest's goals of cost efficiency, material integrity, public trust, and responsible procurement practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute procurement activities independently, demonstrating sound judgment and discretion.
  • Assess and acquire services and materials, including those vital for nuclear safety, while managing purchase requisitions, orders, and contracts.
  • Engage in strategic planning and development of procurement strategies, maintaining supplier performance and market intelligence.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with internal teams and external vendors to resolve procurement-related issues.
  • Provide expert guidance on procurement strategies and actions to stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding.
  • Oversee the implementation and management of contracts and purchase orders, ensuring compliance with ethical business practices.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of bids and proposals, preparing comprehensive documentation to support award recommendations.
  • Assist in the preparation of detailed scopes of work and related documentation for procurement processes.
  • Support and mentor junior procurement specialists as needed.
  • Represent the Supply Chain Services in various meetings and operational discussions.
  • Participate in emergency response initiatives and support critical operational activities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Procurement Specialist III

A Bachelor's degree coupled with five years of experience in procurement within government, regulated, or nuclear sectors is required. Alternatively, a high school diploma or GED with nine years of relevant experience will be considered.

Procurement Specialist II

A Bachelor's degree and three years of procurement experience are necessary, or a high school diploma or GED with seven years of relevant experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

We seek a procurement professional with experience in the nuclear sector, adept at managing complex contracts and compliance requirements. Strong communication skills, the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams, and meticulous attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
