Position Overview:
As a Senior Training Specialist, you will report directly to the Training Program Supervisor and play a crucial role in the Assessment, Design, Development, and Evaluation of educational materials, particularly focusing on industrial and electrical safety, Radiological Control, and Hazardous Energy Management (Lockout/Tagout). Your responsibilities will be executed in alignment with relevant project protocols, guidelines, policies, legal requirements, and technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
  • Conduct comprehensive technical training sessions, which may include classroom instruction and hands-on performance evaluations.
  • Develop training programs and curricula based on established standards, approved procedures, and input from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Implement training initiatives to ensure that contractors and technical personnel possess the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties safely and in compliance with industry standards.
  • Facilitate communication between the training department and other organizational units to identify and address training needs effectively.
  • Perform assessments to ensure that training activities are conducted safely and in accordance with approved protocols.
  • Promote a strong culture of Nuclear Safety and Quality by emphasizing the importance of safety and quality in all work activities.
  • Be prepared to undertake additional tasks as required by business needs and departmental management.
Supervisory Duties:
No supervisory responsibilities are associated with this position.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
  • High School Diploma
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a nuclear-related field, such as technical roles in Nuclear Operations.
Additional Requirements:
Preferred qualifications include:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with coursework in education or training, and at least 10 years of experience in training or operations within a nuclear facility.
  • An Associate’s degree with similar coursework and 12 years of relevant experience.
  • No degree, but with 14 years of experience in a similar role.
Essential Skills:
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
  • Experience as a safety instructor in construction or general industry, particularly in electrical safety.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Proficiency in using and maintaining Learning Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and electrical one-line diagrams.
  • Ability to ensure that training courses are pedagogically sound and meet quality standards.
  • Experience collaborating with SMEs to ensure the technical accuracy of training materials.
Preferred Attributes:
Ideal candidates will possess:
  • At least 6 years of documented experience utilizing the Systematic Approach to Training.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to develop safety training programs based on established standards and procedures.
  • Effective collaboration skills across various organizational levels and diverse backgrounds.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with the nuclear industry or other highly regulated training environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements:
This position involves desk work, including writing and computer tasks, as well as field activities that require walking, standing, and the use of personal protective equipment. Occasional lifting and transporting of tools and supplies may be necessary.
