Position Overview
The Security Operations Specialist role is a full-time position within the Protective Force team.

The individual must be prepared to work flexible hours and shifts that align with a 24/7 security operation, as well as be available for short-notice call-ins.

This role is considered essential, requiring the incumbent to fulfill their scheduled shifts during all laboratory holidays, closures, and delays.

Reporting to the Protective Force Program Manager, the position also receives guidance from the Protective Force Lieutenant and Shift Sergeant as necessary.

Professionalism, initiative, diligence, and accountability are critical attributes for this position.


Key Responsibilities
The Security Operations Specialist is tasked with the following responsibilities:
1. Responding to alarms and coordinating notifications as required.
2. Ensuring the safety and security of staff, visitors, and facilities by initiating emergency responses and management notifications.
3. Taking appropriate measures to mitigate emergency situations through effective communication and response.
4. Demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills while managing stressful situations that require high organizational capabilities.
5. Serving as the primary point of contact for timely support during security and safety-related events, contributing to the mission of safeguarding national security interests and government property.
6. Collaborating with all levels of management and staff, as well as other contractors and stakeholders, while maintaining a professional demeanor.
7. Developing and sustaining working relationships with various personnel, including Operations Managers, Facility Managers, and Safety staff.
8. Familiarity with emergency response procedures, operation of communication systems, and documentation of events through computer-aided dispatch.
9. Acting as the single point of contact for emergencies and off-normal events, initiating responses such as fire, ambulance, and police services.
10. Conducting safety and security checks and providing escorts as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of DOE NTC PFT 110 Basic Security Officer training.
- Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
- Experience in military or law enforcement.
- Current Q Clearance.

Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in radiologically controlled areas and various weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors.
- Capability to respond to potentially hazardous situations.

Additional Information:
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance. Applicants selected will undergo a federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Drug Testing:
All positions requiring security clearance are designated for drug testing, including pre-employment and random testing for illegal substances.
