Department Overview

The IT Product and Enterprise Platforms division is a cohesive unit that integrates various departments to effectively deliver superior technology solutions.

The IT Vegetation Management team collaborates closely with the Vegetation Management Line of Business within the Wildfire Risk organization to implement solutions that enhance safety for our communities, customers, and employees.

Position Summary

We are in search of a seasoned Product Owner within the IT Vegetation Management sector who will articulate a comprehensive vision for our Vegetation Management technology product, ensuring alignment with PG&E's Wildfire Mitigation Plan commitments. This product is designed to optimize field operations, workforce management, and cycle times for both Distribution and Transmission Vegetation Management initiatives. The Senior Product Owner will cultivate and sustain robust relationships, serving as the primary liaison with various teams across PG&E IT and other business units, while possessing the ability to influence and navigate organizational challenges. From the established vision, the Product Owner will develop well-defined user stories, prioritize them in the backlog, and outline a clear timeline for product delivery. This role is also accountable for the overall success of the product, emphasizing technical excellence and user satisfaction.

PG&E provides a salary range that reflects the company's good faith belief regarding compensation for this position at the time of posting. This range is specific to the job's locality. Actual salary will depend on various factors, including specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $128,000.00

Bay Area Maximum: $218,000.00

&/OR​

California Minimum: $122,000.00

California Maximum: $207,000.00

This position is hybrid, requiring work from both a remote office and an assigned work location based on business needs. The designated work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and prioritizes critical tasks for the product by understanding customer needs, gathering product feedback, and aligning with technical and organizational strategies.
  • Stays informed about current and future regulatory requirements.
  • Develops feature specifications and acceptance criteria in collaboration with the Line of Business, acting as a gatekeeper for new functionalities.
  • Defines and launches minimum viable products, incrementally adding essential features and requirements.
  • Creates implementation plans, metrics, and operational functions to facilitate the introduction of new technologies.
  • Provides leadership to product teams to enhance execution and team dynamics in delivering value.
  • Collaborates with other product organizations to provide feedback on existing products and propose potential future products.
  • Identifies the target customer audience, their preferred communication channels, and potential benchmarks for customer responses.
  • Acts as the primary liaison among various departments, stakeholders, and lines of business.
  • Evaluates new products and technologies available in the market and their applicability to support business partners.
  • Conducts occasional field visits to directly understand user challenges and provide guidance.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT.
  • 3+ years of experience in an Agile environment.
  • High learning agility.
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner for an Agile development team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High-energy, passionate, and positive outlook with a strong sense of ownership.

Desired:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment.
  • Familiarity with Waterfall, Agile, and Scrum methodologies.
  • Knowledge in technology domains such as geospatial information systems (GIS), ArcGIS Online (AGOL), Salesforce Field Service (SFS), Amazon Web Services (AWS), AZURE, One Cloud, Palantir Foundry, Microsoft Power BI, and data analysis with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in functional areas including wildfire response, Incident Command System (ICS), electric control center operations, and Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS).
  • Understanding of PG&E's Enterprise IT infrastructure, Cyber Security, and other technology domains.
  • Experience in Business Process and Requirements development, along with authoring stories for technical resource consumption.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including conflict resolution and respectful communication to resolve disagreements.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across departments.
  • A proactive approach to getting things done, with a focus on execution and continuous improvement.
