Responsibilities:

Key Duties:
1. Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures in collaboration with patients, healthcare providers, and hospitals.

2. Secure necessary authorizations, pre-certifications, and pre-determinations for scheduled surgeries.

3. Manage incoming calls, assess patient needs, and direct inquiries to the appropriate personnel.

4. Schedule new patients, referrals, and follow-up appointments in accordance with established guidelines.

5. Maintain accurate records of authorizations and correspondence related to patient referrals.

6. Collect co-pays and other financial responsibilities from patients at the time of service.

7. Maintain the scheduling template for physician meetings, satellite schedules, and call coverage.

8. Facilitate financial counseling for patients as necessary.

9. Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to compliance policies to ensure operational efficiency.

10. Prepare various documents and correspondence as requested by supervisors.

11. Provide guidance and support to junior staff as needed.

12. Communicate with patients regarding surgical preparations and follow up on pre-operative testing to ensure readiness for procedures.

13. Schedule post-operative follow-up appointments with physicians.

14. Possess a basic understanding of medical terminology related to tests and surgical procedures, including coding.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Senior Appointment Coordinator will possess the following qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required.

2. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in an office environment, preferably within a medical setting.

3. Knowledge of medical terminology and coding is essential.

4. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) is necessary.
