Role Overview:

The AAP is seeking a Program Administrator to deliver instruction and offer administrative support for the Writing program. This full-time, non-tenure-track position carries the academic title of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. The Program Administrator will collaborate closely with the Program Director and fellow Program Administrators, reporting directly to the Program Director for Writing. Candidates with experience in teaching and engaging diverse student populations are particularly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Duties:

  • Teach six graduate-level courses annually, including course preparation and classroom engagement (both online and onsite).
  • Advise students from various backgrounds.
  • Provide innovative leadership in curriculum design and the development of new courses to enhance program delivery.
  • Engage in university service activities.

Administrative Duties:

  • Participate in the recruitment and development of adjunct faculty.
  • Assist with the admissions process.
  • Help plan onsite and/or remote events and seminars.
  • Support alumni outreach and manage social media initiatives.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Writing or a related field such as English or Journalism.
  • One to three years of teaching experience at the graduate level, either online or in-person.
  • Publication of at least one book or a comparable record in literary journals and magazines.
  • Ability to teach a diverse range of Writing courses, including fiction workshops.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in Writing or a related field such as English.
  • Publication of a novel.
  • Four or more years of teaching experience at the graduate level, either online or in-person.
  • Four or more years of professional experience as a writer.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment with multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in managing a degree program.
