As a Solutions Engineer, you will serve as the pivotal technical resource throughout the entire sales process, both before and after the sale. Your collaboration with our Enterprise clients will focus on educating, empowering, and ensuring their success on the Cloudflare platform. Your in-depth knowledge of Cloudflare's extensive global network and technologies will enable you to identify optimal solutions for clients, facilitate training and onboarding sessions via video calls or in-person meetings, and support the long-term success of our customers.

In this role, you will act as a trusted technical advocate for our clients. You will engage with various teams within Cloudflare, including Sales, Product Development, Engineering, and Customer Support, to ensure that customer success remains your primary focus as you seek to create scalable solutions tailored to their needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • As integral members of Cloudflare's Enterprise Sales team, Solutions Engineers lead technical discussions and implementations to drive new business, expand existing accounts, and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • In terms of business development, you will be responsible for assessing prospect and customer use cases, uncovering technical requirements, leading product demonstrations, identifying and designing solutions, and collaborating on proofs-of-concept (PoCs).
  • For our current clients, Solutions Engineers are part of a dedicated account team that provides guidance on technical best practices, product implementation, and strategic advice regarding internet security and performance.
  • This role may require travel for meetings with clients, attendance at conferences, and collaboration with your Cloudflare colleagues.
Essential Requirements
  • Proven experience with a scripting language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Bash, Lua, Go) and a desire to enhance those skills.
  • Strong understanding of internet technologies: OSI Model layers 1-7, BGP, GRE, TCP/UDP, DNS (both authoritative and recursive), HTTP(S), SSL/TLS.
  • A minimum of 3 years in a customer-facing sales or consulting position (not necessarily in technology).
  • A genuine passion for technology and a commitment to staying informed about Cloudflare's products and industry trends.
  • A focus on learning, collaboration, mentorship, and personal and team growth.
  • In addition to technical and collaborative skills, we highly value project management abilities, relationship-building skills, and emotional intelligence.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in building web applications or contributing significantly to existing applications.
  • Familiarity with firewall roles, including distinctions between L3, L4, and L7 firewalls.
  • Comfort with command-line interfaces, RESTful APIs, and analyzing HTTP requests and responses using web inspector tools.
  • Ability to articulate the differences between CSRF, XSS, and SQL injection, along with Cloudflare's role in mitigating these threats.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, and SOC-2.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory; we welcome candidates from all backgrounds.
