Position Overview
Ares is on the lookout for a seasoned Vice President of Treasury Operations to become a key member of our Global Treasury Operations team within Investment Operations. This role presents a unique opportunity to be part of a newly established group aimed at creating a Core Center of Excellence that will support all lines of business at Ares. The selected candidate will oversee daily liquidity management and cash forecasting while contributing to the advancement of our Treasury workflows and technology.
The ideal candidate will possess a proactive mindset, a process-oriented approach, and the flexibility to define, design, and enhance treasury functions. Quick adaptability and strong organizational skills, coupled with a client-centric attitude, are essential for meeting multiple tight deadlines. A proven history in operationalizing liquidity management within the alternative investment management sector is required.
Key Responsibilities
Bank Account Management
- Establishing and managing bank accounts, including necessary currency accounts and sweep options for excess cash.
- Identifying and vetting new banking relationships in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitoring inputs to the cash management function, including investment pipelines and currency balances.
- Tracking non-investment cash movements such as contributions and withdrawals.
- Ensuring accurate recording of all cash transactions and resolving discrepancies with banks.
- Overseeing data feeds between the Treasury Management System (TMS) and various platforms.
- Facilitating system integrations between Treasury systems and other internal/external systems.
- Investigating cash discrepancies between Ares and banking institutions.
- Centralizing cash and wire movements for processing, tracking, and auditing purposes.
- Maintaining portfolio-level credit facility data and managing cash flow reconciliations.
- Preparing liquidity forecasts for Accounting and Financial Planning teams by managing all inputs and reconciliations.
- Standardizing liquidity reporting for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Addressing inquiries related to cash availability and liquidity requirements.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or a related business discipline.
- At least 7 years of experience in leading global capital markets or investment management firms, focusing on Treasury Operations, Cash Management, or Accounting.
- Prior experience in Alternative Assets, Fixed Income, or Leveraged Loans is preferred.
- Strong expertise in liquidity forecasting and cash modeling.
- Familiarity with data management platforms such as Hazeltree, Everest, Wall Street Office, Geneva, or IVP is advantageous.
- Experience with various investment vehicles, including Institutional Separate Accounts and complex fund structures.
- Intermediate technical skills (VBA, SQL, Excel, Power BI) are a plus.
- Understanding of basic accounting principles and complex fund structures is beneficial.
- Experience collaborating with financial intermediaries like investment banks and broker/dealers is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple complex priorities and competing demands effectively.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to thrive under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a highly organized, process-driven approach.
- Ability to distill extensive research and analysis into clear, actionable insights.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $140,000 - $160,000, with total compensation potentially including a discretionary performance-based bonus.
