Job Overview

The Nursing Administration Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing patient care operations within the healthcare facility. This position requires a deep understanding of healthcare management to effectively lead patient care initiatives in the absence of senior leadership. The individual in this role is tasked with fostering effective communication, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring seamless patient placement and care coordination across various departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acts as the liaison for hospital administration during their absence, ensuring that patient and family needs for safety, comfort, and support are met. Collaborates with nursing staff and physicians to manage patient admissions and transfers, while keeping relevant parties informed of ongoing issues and resolutions.
  • Provides guidance and support to hospital staff, interpreting policies and procedures, and directing them to available resources. Addresses employee concerns in accordance with hospital policy and serves as a mentor for charge nurses during off-hours.
  • Identifies and addresses issues affecting patient care throughout the organization, participating in the resolution of systemic challenges and responding to staff and physician inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Manages emergency situations in line with hospital protocols, acting as a resource for team members and ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Allocates staffing resources effectively, assessing needs in collaboration with unit charge nurses and adjusting staffing levels as necessary to meet patient care demands.
  • Facilitates patient placement by utilizing established guidelines to determine the most suitable unit based on patient requirements, while considering staffing and bed availability.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support hospital operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Vocational degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care environment, including at least 1 year in a charge nurse or similar capacity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • At least 2 years of experience in management or leadership roles.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Active Registered Nurse license as required by state regulations.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required by the end of orientation.
  • Additional certifications may be required based on specific departmental needs.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to perform medium work, including lifting weights up to 32 lbs occasionally and up to 25 lbs frequently.
