The University of California Irvine (UCI) School of Medicine's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking applications for a full-time faculty role as the Director of the Clinical Chemistry Division. The academic rank may vary (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) based on clinical expertise and research involvement. Faculty members are expected to provide patient care, educate fellows, residents, and students, engage in public service, and contribute to scholarly work. Clinical X faculty are anticipated to engage in significant research activities.
Applicants should possess extensive experience or fellowship training in clinical chemistry and hold an MD, DO, MD/PhD, or PhD degree. Candidates with an MD or DO should be board certified in Clinical Pathology and ideally in Chemical Pathology, while PhD holders should have ABCC board certification or eligibility. Physician candidates must qualify for a medical license in California, and PhD candidates must be eligible for a Clinical Chemist license or its equivalent. A minimum of three years of experience managing a clinical chemistry laboratory is preferred, although qualified candidates from accredited fellowships without prior experience will also be considered.
We are looking for an exceptional clinical chemist with excellent communication and leadership abilities, a passion for clinical service, a dedication to education, and a solid track record in clinical or translational research. The selected candidate will collaborate with departmental leaders, laboratory managers, and technical staff to ensure the delivery of top-tier diagnostic services. Responsibilities will encompass oversight of the Clinical Chemistry Division at our extensive healthcare facilities and outpatient clinics throughout the region.
The salary for this position is based on academic rank and step, adhering to AAMC benchmarks for Clinical Pathology, ranging from $178,878 to $357,069. Membership in the health science compensation plan allows for potential additional compensation.
