Your Role in Our Organization

Position Overview:

As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Outpatient Specialty Pharmacy Clinical Lead (OSPCL) plays a crucial role in overseeing the clinical, administrative, and financial operations of our outpatient specialty pharmacy services. This position is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective management of specialty medication therapies, collaborating with pharmacy leadership to design and implement clinical programs tailored to patient needs.

The OSPCL will guide a team of specialty clinical pharmacists, serve on the Specialty Pharmacy Quality Management Committee, and lead initiatives aimed at enhancing service quality and compliance with accreditation standards. This role also involves strategic planning to promote and expand our specialty pharmacy services, ensuring optimal reimbursement for high-cost medications.


Key Responsibilities:

The following functions are essential to this role, but not exhaustive of all duties that may be assigned:
  • Act as a liaison between pharmacy services and healthcare practitioners, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for clinical decision-making processes, guiding specialty clinical pharmacists in their roles.
  • Supervise the Patient Management Program, ensuring accountability and quality in patient care services.
  • Engage in strategic planning for clinical operations, contributing to the development and implementation of pharmacy programs.
  • Oversee daily operations of the outpatient specialty pharmacy, ensuring compliance with established standards.
  • Develop and monitor quality improvement initiatives, utilizing metrics to assess program effectiveness.
Qualifications for Success

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of experience as a licensed pharmacist in a hospital setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Qualifications to oversee clinical services effectively.
  • Active pharmacist license in good standing.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Specialty Pharmacy or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with URAC and ACHC standards.
  • Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency.
  • Board Certification.
  • Advanced Practice Pharmacist license is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Registered Pharmacist (RPH) - Required.
