Your Responsibilities

Position Overview:

At UCI Health, we pride ourselves on our collaborative and innovative environment. As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing patient care through effective nutrition management.

The incumbent will be tasked with developing, documenting, and executing tailored nutrition care plans for patients within the designated clinic. Key responsibilities include conducting thorough assessments, performing follow-ups, providing nutrition education, and engaging with patients and their families. Additionally, the role involves participating in quality improvement initiatives and special projects while coordinating resources throughout the health system to ensure optimal service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

The following functions are essential to this role and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties.

  • Facilitates timely responses to physician orders and coordinates necessary services, ensuring effective patient care delivery. 30%
  • Exhibits advanced clinical expertise and communication skills, serving as a mentor and resource for staff. 10%
  • Evaluates patients' nutritional requirements and formulates individualized care plans that reflect their specific health conditions and needs. 40%
  • Utilizes clinical data to develop educational programs and provides guidance to clinical staff, participating in community-related research projects. 20%
Qualifications for Success

Required Qualifications:

  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Registered Dietitian credential from the American Dietetic Association.
  • Continuing education proof equivalent to 75 CEUs over a five-year period.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge necessary for effective job performance.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Dietitian in a clinical setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Understanding of therapeutic and general nutrition principles, with the ability to create patient-specific care plans.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain an appropriate work pace relative to workload demands.
  • Capacity to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the health system.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possession of a graduate degree or advanced certification such as CNSD, CDE, or CSP.
  • Familiarity with university and medical center policies and procedures.
