Assistant Professor of Chemistry Position

Chapman University is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor of Chemistry to join our faculty in the Schmid College of Science and Technology. This is a tenure track position that requires a strong commitment to teaching, research, and service.
Key Responsibilities- Teach lower- and upper-division chemistry courses, including core and elective courses, to undergraduate students.
- Develop and maintain an active research program in computational chemistry, including publishing papers and presenting work at local and national conferences.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and assessment of academic and degree programs in the Schmid College of Science and Technology.
- Perform service to the unit, college, university, profession, and wider community as expected of a tenure track faculty member.
- Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field from an accredited institution.
- Strong history of chemistry research, including demonstrated potential for building and leading an independent nationally recognized, externally funded chemistry research program.
- Potential to be an effective teacher at the undergraduate level, particularly in core chemistry courses, such as general chemistry, or upper division coursework.
- Commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in education and willingness to contribute to the University Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion plan.

Application review will begin October 1, 2024, and will continue until the position is filled. This position is subject to final budget approval. Salary range for this position is $90,000 - $98,000. Successful completion of a background check is required for the final candidate.
