Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Structures Engineer, your contributions will include:
  • Conducting and supervising structural analyses, evaluations, and designs; developing design alternatives or recommendations.
  • Leading and overseeing the preparation of contract documents, including drawings, specifications, and design criteria.
  • Designing new hydraulic structures and rehabilitating existing ones, such as dams, spillways, gates, and retaining walls.
  • Executing engineering tasks that require innovative thinking to address unique structural challenges.
  • Coordinating structural designs with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Managing projects independently while mentoring junior staff and expanding HDR's structural engineering services.
  • Reviewing work performed by team members, ensuring compliance with design standards and criteria.
  • Performing additional duties as required.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in structural design and analysis.
  • Proven experience in leading structural design projects, including analysis and engineering support during construction.
  • California PE or SE licensure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Mathcad, SAP2000, or similar analytical tools.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills, with a commitment to our employee-owned culture.
Preferred:
  • Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, with a focus on structures.
  • Field experience in construction, inspection, or related instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of structural, seismic, and risk assessment practices related to dam safety.
  • Experience with finite element modeling and seismic dynamic analysis techniques.
