Position Overview

HDR's Northern California Civil Design Section is seeking a mid-level, Licensed Civil Engineer to contribute to and lead exciting new projects. In this role, you will receive mentorship and professional growth opportunities from experienced Senior Engineers while working on a variety of engineering assignments.

Key Responsibilities

As a Civil Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
  • Leading or assisting in the preparation of construction documents.
  • Collaborating with junior, mid-level, and senior engineers across various disciplines to complete engineering tasks.
  • Creating innovative solutions to design challenges.
  • Managing project budgets and schedules effectively.
  • Preparing plan drawings, technical specifications, design documentation, bid quantities, and construction cost estimates.
  • Modifying plan drawings and coordinating with AutoCAD Drafters and Civil3D Designers, with potential design work in AutoCAD and/or Civil3D.
  • Mentoring junior staff members.
  • Conducting site visits to verify field conditions.
  • Executing engineering tasks that require critical thinking and creativity, particularly in areas lacking specific code-based guidance.
  • Performing additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments effectively.
  • A proactive attitude and commitment to our employee-owned culture.

Preferred:
  • Field experience in civil construction.
  • Experience with water resources projects.
