Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Disaster Program Manager to join our team at the American Red Cross. As a Disaster Program Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing disaster response and recovery efforts in assigned geographic areas, as well as developing and implementing disaster preparedness and mitigation strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Disaster Response and Recovery: Develop and implement disaster response and recovery plans, ensuring timely and effective delivery of services to affected communities.
  • Community Engagement and Volunteer Management: Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, organizations, and stakeholders to promote disaster preparedness and response efforts.
  • Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation: Develop and implement disaster preparedness and mitigation strategies, including training and exercises, to ensure communities are better equipped to respond to disasters.
  • Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and manage a team of disaster volunteers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and resources to respond to disasters.
  • Collaboration and Partnerships: Foster partnerships with local, state, and national organizations to leverage resources and expertise in disaster response and recovery efforts.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as emergency management, disaster response, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in disaster response, emergency management, or a related field.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
