We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Program Manager, Engineering Culture and Community to join our team at Square Inc. This role is a critical part of our Engineering Culture and Programs team, responsible for building and leading communities to foster diversity, connection, and belonging among our globally distributed team of engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to bring our diverse engineering teams together as a single community, promoting a culture of inclusivity and belonging.
- Cultivate forums and mechanisms that actively solicit feedback from engineers, ensuring all voices are heard and valued in decision-making processes.
- Plan and execute critical projects aimed at improving the health, efficiency, and morale of our engineering teams, including learning and development programs, initiatives promoting a sense of belonging, and measuring and responding to the state of organizational health.
- Develop and refine engineering cultural programs across Square, including horizontal mentorship programs, onboarding programs, and internal portals/guidebooks.
- Work to improve communication, collaboration, and alignment throughout the engineering organization, enhancing our ability to meet the needs of our engineering teams.
- Promote a culture of continuous professional development and connect Square with the broader engineering community through conferences, tech talks, blogging, open source initiatives, and more.
Requirements:
- 12+ years of experience owning and managing large-scale engineering programs and/or operations.
- A technical and/or engineering background, with experience working on technical or engineering teams.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Experience building and managing communities of purpose and practice.
- Deep understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, along with strategies for enhancing them.
- Proven ability to think strategically, solve complex problems, and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Agile business mindset, focused on crafting innovative solutions.
