Job Summary

As a key member of the HD Supply team, the Transportation Supervisor will be responsible for leading the distribution personnel to ensure all safety, quality, packaging, receipt, and shipment standards are met. This role will play a critical part in achieving operational goals and driving business success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure safety, productivity, and quality in all distribution operations, maintaining a high level of efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Financial Management: Design, develop, and manage the distribution department budget, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Infrastructure Development: Refurbish and enhance site infrastructure and equipment to support site efforts in growth and meeting objectives.
  • Performance Metrics: Continuously develop and implement maintenance performance metrics, training all staff to optimize performance and return on investment.
  • Associate Development: Ensure associates have the necessary tools and training to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Ad Hoc Tasks: Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Nature and Scope
  • Leadership: Provide solutions and ensure work is performed consistently with company policies and procedures.
  • Team Management: Lead a group or team of support, craft, or lower-level professional associates.
Work Environment
  • Physical Demands: Regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort, such as dust, fumes, or odors.
  • Continuous Exertion: Intermittent periods of continuous physical exertion, including walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment that may be heavy (50+ pounds) or awkward.
  • Travel: Overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
  • Qualifications: Typically requires a BS/BA in a related discipline and 5+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
