Kelly Services is collaborating with a leading consumer goods manufacturer to find a contract/temporary Lead Brand Strategy Manager with experience in consumer products.

Position Overview

The Lead Brand Strategy Manager plays a critical role in bridging traditional marketing with comprehensive management practices. This position will focus on supporting the brand strategy for a key product portfolio while managing the associated financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate strategic marketing planning for the brand, identifying and driving essential initiatives to enhance business performance.
  • Oversee the research, development, positioning, and market introduction of new products and enhancements across various channels.
  • Develop, implement, and assess advertising and promotional strategies to boost sales and brand recognition for the designated product line.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators, addressing any discrepancies in budget and future commitments.

Core Duties

1. Strategic Business Management

  1. Responsible for aligning strategies with the leadership team to enhance profitability and meet market objectives.
  2. Coordinate resources and lead cross-functional teams to execute strategic initiatives.
  3. Act as a financial steward for product lines, ensuring optimal decision-making in cross-functional contexts.
  4. Collaborate with senior leaders to manage performance and navigate challenges to achieve business goals.
  5. Utilize market data and competitive insights to identify opportunities and assess product viability.

2. Market Development

  1. Continuously monitor market dynamics, customer behaviors, and competitor activities that could impact business performance.
  2. Identify potential market opportunities and risks, evaluating their financial implications and justifying necessary investments.
  3. Implement commercialization strategies to ensure the organization meets its growth objectives.
  4. Establish and report on performance metrics, addressing any gaps in budget and commitments.

3. Brand Equity Management

  1. Leverage consumer insights to drive brand initiatives, product development, and strategic direction.
  2. Contribute to the creation of a clear brand vision, positioning, and strategic goals.
  3. Collaborate with sales teams to develop tools that effectively communicate brand value.
  4. Lead the creation of advertising and communication strategies that justify premium pricing.
  5. Measure brand performance and implement strategies for improvement to enhance customer experience.

4. Innovation and Product Management

  1. Support the execution of product and packaging innovation plans to drive portfolio growth.
  2. Manage go-to-market strategies for various innovation initiatives.
  3. Oversee all phases of innovation projects, from ideation to market launch.
  4. Manage the product portfolio in alignment with strategic objectives and market demands.

5. Pricing Strategy and Financial Planning

  1. Provide strategic direction in collaboration with the pricing team to develop effective pricing strategies.
  2. Integrate pricing plans into overall product strategies.
  3. Work with finance and sales teams to forecast and analyze the impact of pricing decisions on business performance.

6. Budgeting and Forecasting

  1. Participate in business planning meetings, providing insights on market drivers affecting forecasts.
  2. Review and adjust budget forecasts based on market trends and growth initiatives.

Qualifications

Education: A bachelor's degree is required; an MBA is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years in marketing, with at least 2 years in consumer products.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong business acumen with proven marketing and management skills.
  • Ability to inspire and engage both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in launching new products across various sales channels is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in market analysis and strategic thinking.
  • Experience with market research tools is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
