Reports to: Associate Director, Preservation

Work Arrangement: Hybrid - In-office presence required three days a week.

Your Role:

As a Project Manager within the Community Real Estate team, you will play a crucial role in MEDA's initiatives aimed at preventing family displacement in the Mission District through effective housing preservation and development strategies. This position will primarily focus on overseeing the acquisition, rehabilitation, and management of housing projects, ensuring a smooth transition to operational status. Your passion for community advocacy and expertise in project management will be vital to your success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acquisition and Predevelopment:
    • Evaluate new development opportunities and conduct feasibility analyses.
    • Prepare applications for securing financing for projects.
    • Manage project budgets and timelines throughout all phases.
    • Facilitate approvals with relevant regulatory agencies.
    • Oversee the preparation of loan documents and manage escrow processes.
    • Lead the selection process for architects, contractors, and subcontractors.
    • Supervise project design development, including plans and specifications.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Collaborate with MEDA staff on small property assessments and affordable housing projects.
    • Foster tenant engagement and financial literacy for ownership opportunities.
    • Conduct outreach and participate in community meetings and policy advocacy.
  • Rehabilitation Coordination:
    • Manage project consultants and oversee bid processes.
    • Act as a liaison among MEDA, consultants, vendors, and the community.
    • Process payment applications and coordinate special events.
    • Perform additional tasks as assigned by leadership.
  • Reporting:
    • Present reports to the Board of Directors as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in real estate development with team management responsibilities.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; a Master's degree in relevant fields is preferred.
  • Proven leadership and management skills with a focus on accountability and results.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for relationship building and conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of construction and design issues related to housing development.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and Microsoft Excel.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse communities is essential.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
