POSITION OVERVIEW

  • The Clinical Nurse II is a registered nurse who collaborates as an integral member of the healthcare team, consistently ensuring safe and effective practice within the established professional framework.
  • This role requires the Clinical Nurse II to possess the necessary expertise, skills, and mindset to meet the standards for proficient nursing practice as outlined in the specific position description.
  • The Clinical Nurse II demonstrates organizational competencies that align with the mission and are incorporated within the professional practice competency domains.
  • Independently, the Clinical Nurse II delivers patient care by applying the nursing process and takes responsibility for the nursing care of assigned patients, who may vary in age from infants to the elderly.
  • The Clinical Nurse II actively engages in Continuous Quality Improvement, Evidence-Based Practice, Leadership, Person and Family Centered Care, Professionalism, Safety, Technology/Informatics, and Teamwork.
  • This role involves close collaboration with the interprofessional healthcare team to ensure coordinated care across the healthcare continuum, focusing on individualized care based on diverse patient needs.
  • The Clinical Nurse II seeks constructive feedback while assuming leadership responsibilities and contributes to enhancing clinical practices. This role also emphasizes the impact of nursing on the organizational vision and care delivery system.
  • ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI): The nurse employs data and quality improvement methodologies to identify and address potential and actual issues, ensuring care is safe, timely, efficient, effective, and equitable.
  • Evidence-Based Practice and Research: The nurse assesses and integrates the best available evidence with clinical expertise and patient preferences to optimize healthcare delivery.
  • Leadership: The nurse collaborates effectively and applies innovative thinking to engage in systematic, evidence-based problem-solving and decision-making, promoting effective changes within a complex healthcare system.
  • Person and Family Centered Care: The nurse acknowledges the patient (or their designee) as a key partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care, respecting their preferences and values.

The nurse is committed to the nursing profession through ongoing education, adherence to ethical standards, participation in professional organizations, and community engagement.

  • Education
  • A Bachelor’s degree in nursing is required.
  • Work Experience
  • A minimum of 15 months of relevant professional nursing experience and completion of the Nurse Residency Program, if applicable.
  • Licenses / Certifications
  • Pennsylvania RN licensure is required.
  • BLS/CPR certification as a healthcare provider per the American Heart Association is required.
