Position Overview


Discovery Senior Living is seeking a Healthcare Operations Specialist to support our northeast region. This role will require travel to various communities as needed.

The Healthcare Operations Specialist is a corporate position designed to enhance the effectiveness of a community's Director of Health and Wellness (DHW) or to fill the role in the event of a vacancy.

This position is accountable for the comprehensive management of a Community's Resident Care Department, ensuring compliance with clinical, regulatory, and financial standards.

Additionally, the Specialist may assist in the recruitment and training of Directors of Health and Wellness and contribute to corporate projects while providing regional oversight of Resident Care Departments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation of current policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with corporate and external regulatory standards. Review and adapt to new regulatory directives as necessary.
  • Assess and enhance adherence to resident rights policies, actively working to resolve any resident grievances.
  • Conduct compliance surveys at various communities and assist in formulating action plans to mitigate liability and risks identified during these surveys.
  • Engage in State and Federal surveys and compliance investigations.
  • Support and monitor the progress of corrective action plans.
  • Analyze performance indicators and survey data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Provide training and orientation to community staff regarding compliance, risk management, and performance enhancement.
  • Assist the Regional Director in auditing care assessments for accuracy and compliance.
  • Participate in the selection process for community DHWs.
  • Ensure communities remain informed about state regulations and monitor proposed regulatory changes.
  • Consistently promote the company culture.
  • Facilitate partnerships with external vendors as necessary.
  • Provide education and maintain clinical expertise related to the DHW role.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in relevant software and ensure timely reporting of information.
  • Maintain compliance with all state, federal, and governmental regulations.
  • Exhibit respect and compassion in all interactions.
  • Uphold the highest standards of honesty and integrity in every engagement.
  • Show a genuine passion for care through interactions with colleagues, residents, families, and visitors.
  • May be requested to serve as a temporary Interim Director of Health and Wellness.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision, support, and guidance to community administrators and DHW staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to residents, in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with Multistate Compact Licensure required.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance across all states of responsibility.
  • Current experience in assisted living is essential.
  • Five (5) to Ten (10) years of nursing experience required.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing.
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of nursing management experience.
  • Recent experience as Director of Wellness, Director of Clinical, or Director of Nursing in Assisted Living is required.
