POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a dedicated Asphalt Milling Machine Crew Member who will play a crucial role in operating and maintaining asphalt milling machinery used in various road construction and maintenance tasks. This position is essential for ensuring the safe and efficient removal of old asphalt surfaces, preparing sites for resurfacing or reconstruction. The role requires outdoor work in diverse weather conditions and demands physical endurance, meticulous attention to detail, and effective teamwork.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maximize equipment and labor efficiency to enhance production output.
  • Operate the asphalt milling machine to effectively remove asphalt from roads, highways, parking lots, and other paved surfaces.
  • Oversee the milling process to guarantee uniform and precise asphalt removal while safeguarding the underlying pavement.
  • Collaborate with fellow crew members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Coordinate with team members, clients, and dump trucks for efficient loading of milled materials.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by conducting thorough inspections and minimizing potential hazards.
  • Perform daily checks and maintenance on equipment.
  • Ensure the milling machine is cleaned and serviced after each shift.
  • Utilize additional tools and equipment as required to complete assigned tasks.
  • Adhere to safety protocols by consistently wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Adapt to last-minute changes in dispatch as needed.
  • Ensure the safety of crew members and the public in the vicinity of the job site.
  • Report any deviations from the milling plan or unexpected challenges to the foreman.
  • Directly report to the Milling Foreman.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is required.
  • Dependability and flexibility are essential for crew success.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and endure extreme weather conditions.
  • Strong understanding of asphalt operations and DOT regulations.
  • Proficient in teamwork dynamics.
  • Exhibit a professional, courteous, and safety-oriented work ethic.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English; bilingual in Spanish is advantageous.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Capability to repeatedly lift and move 50 lbs and navigate heavy machinery.
  • Ability to work in environments with dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking.
  • Dexterity in hands and fingers for equipment operation.
