Position Overview:

This role necessitates an experienced operator capable of executing the responsibilities of the Paving Foreman in their absence, ensuring seamless workflow. The individual will provide comprehensive support related to the Paving Operations, ensuring that projects are completed safely, with a focus on quality and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold a safe working environment in accordance with all safety regulations and protocols.
  • Maintain physical fitness with the ability to lift at least 50lbs and demonstrate flexibility in movement.
  • Notify the Foreman at least 2 hours before the scheduled start time if unable to attend.
  • Arrive on-site 30 minutes prior to the start time to review project readiness with the Foreman or Superintendent.
  • Communicate daily crew attendance to the Operations Coordinator.
  • Ensure proper layout and implementation of high-quality and productive practices.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships within the team.
  • Lead the Daily Huddle at the beginning of each shift, followed by Stretch and Flex exercises.
  • Report all Near Miss incidents promptly.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities for all team members under your direction.
  • Oversee Paving Operations to ensure compliance with depth, yield, cross slope, and density specifications.
  • Monitor the number of trucks required for the Paving Operations.
  • Calculate asphalt tonnage and mix types needed for projects.
  • Coordinate with Dispatch regarding asphalt tonnage and mix types.
  • Verify load tickets to ensure the correct mix type is delivered.
  • Ensure crew and trucks operate efficiently at all times.
  • Maintain assigned equipment in proper working condition and cleanliness.
  • Report any necessary equipment repairs to the Shop Superintendent immediately.
  • Ensure all equipment is parked safely and orderly, adhering to clear zone requirements.
  • Ensure all equipment is fueled and filled with water at the end of each shift.
  • Ensure operators complete and submit Daily Equipment Condition Reports.
  • Verify and sign in/out all subcontractor time sheets legibly.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the project to confirm completion with the highest quality standards.
  • Report all accidents/incidents immediately to the supervisor and Safety Department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Commitment to safety and quality.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.
  • Experience in all facets of Paving & Milling Operations.
  • Strong leadership capabilities.
  • Proficiency in operating all Paving Equipment.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking.
  • A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
