ROLE SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced Milling Machine Foreman to oversee the milling crew, ensuring quality control and efficient logistics in a safe and responsible manner. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in milling operations and a thorough understanding of asphalt processes. This role requires a detail-oriented and safety-focused individual who can perform effectively under pressure and in varying weather conditions. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, as the position may involve working days, nights, and weekends at different locations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maximize production through optimal equipment and labor utilization.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to milling crew members.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Measure slopes and depths to confirm compliance with project specifications.
  • Maintain daily communication with the Project Manager or Superintendent regarding scheduling and production requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and assist in loading millings into trucks.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by conducting thorough inspections and mitigating safety risks.
  • Perform daily equipment checks and maintenance to ensure operational readiness.
  • Ensure the milling machine is cleaned and maintained after each shift.
  • Operate additional equipment as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
  • Adhere to safety protocols by consistently wearing personal protective equipment.
  • Adapt to last-minute dispatch changes as required.
  • Safeguard the well-being of crew members and the public during operations.
  • Report directly to the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is required.
  • Dependability and flexibility are crucial for team success.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adverse weather conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of asphalt operations and Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Proficient in teamwork and collaboration.
  • Exhibit professionalism, courtesy, and a strong commitment to safety.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English; bilingual in Spanish is advantageous.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Capability to repeatedly lift and move 50 lbs. and navigate heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work in environments with dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking.
  • Dexterity to operate machinery effectively.
