POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced Milling Machine Foreman to oversee our milling crew, ensuring quality control and efficient logistics while maintaining a safe work environment. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in milling operations and demonstrate a thorough understanding of asphalt processes. This role requires a detail-oriented, safety-focused individual who can perform well under pressure and adapt to varying weather conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Optimize equipment and labor usage to maximize production efficiency.
  • Provide leadership, training, and support to the milling crew.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress and ensure effective use of resources.
  • Measure slopes and depths to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Maintain daily communication with the Project Manager or Superintendent regarding scheduling and production requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members and coordinate with customers and transport vehicles for loading operations.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by conducting thorough inspections and minimizing risks.
  • Perform daily equipment checks and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure the milling machine is cleaned and serviced after each shift.
  • Operate additional machinery and tools as necessary to complete assigned tasks.
  • Adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols as per company safety guidelines.
  • Adapt to last-minute changes in dispatch and scheduling.
  • Safeguard the well-being of crew members and the public during operations.
  • Report directly to the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is required.
  • Dependability and flexibility are essential for team success.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work under extreme weather conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of asphalt operations and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Proficient in teamwork and collaboration.
  • Exemplary professionalism, courtesy, and commitment to safety.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English; bilingual in Spanish is advantageous.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. and navigate heavy equipment.
  • Capability to work in environments with dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
  • Dexterity to operate machinery effectively.
