Our flagship facility is a 1,368-bed hospital situated on a beautiful tropical campus.It serves as a major tertiary care center for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean, and South America.AdventHealth Orlando features one of the largest Emergency Departments and cardiac catheterization labs in the nation.We are among the busiest hospitals in the country, providing exceptional service to over 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients annually.
Your Role:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II is responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests in designated areas, adhering to licensing and certification requirements. This role typically involves analytical testing of blood and other human biological samples, requiring a solid understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of laboratory science. Depending on the specific department, the role may include various pre-analytical and post-analytical tasks, with potential on-call responsibilities. You will follow established laboratory protocols and maintain quality control standards while actively contributing to exceptional customer service and fostering respectful relationships.

Qualifications for Success:
Licensure, Certification, or Registration:
Required:
  • In states with licensure requirements, appropriate laboratory licensure for the specialty areas.
  • In non-licensure states, a national certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist (e.g., ASCP, AAB, AMT) is required unless exempt under state law.

Education and Experience:
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of relevant technical experience.
  • Technical skills related to laboratory testing and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and manage changing priorities.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.

  • Conduct pre-analytical tasks related to laboratory testing, including equipment maintenance and specimen processing.
  • Perform all required tests and analytical procedures efficiently and accurately, adhering to established protocols.
  • Engage in post-analytical activities, including reporting results and providing technical support.
  • Train and orient new staff and students under lab leadership guidance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures, including the proper handling of hazardous materials.
  • Participate in laboratory performance improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in evaluating new laboratory techniques and procedures.
