Nights, including rotating weekends and holidays.

Role Overview:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for conducting various laboratory tests in designated areas as licensed/certified. This role typically involves analytical testing of blood and other human biological specimens, requiring a moderate to high level of theoretical and practical expertise in the relevant licensed areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct pre-analytical activities related to laboratory testing, including equipment maintenance, inventory control, and specimen processing.
  • Perform all necessary tests and analytical procedures efficiently and accurately, adhering to established protocols and standards.
  • Engage in proficiency testing, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations as well as institutional policies.
  • Handle post-analytical activities, reporting results in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provide technical support and information regarding laboratory testing for patients of all ages.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new employees and medical technology students under lab leadership guidance.
  • Offer guidance to technicians and support staff, addressing customer service issues and providing educational support to clinical staff as needed.

Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory sciences, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist (e.g., ASCP, AAB, or AMT) and appropriate state licensure.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical laboratory experience is preferred.
