Work Schedule: Full-Time
Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, with rotating weekends and holidays.
Role Overview:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II is responsible for executing a variety of laboratory tests in designated areas, as per licensure and certification requirements. This role involves analytical testing of blood and other biological specimens, necessitating a solid understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of laboratory science. Depending on the department, additional pre-analytical and post-analytical tasks may be included, with potential on-call duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct laboratory tests efficiently and accurately, adhering to established protocols and quality standards.
- Participate in quality control and assurance activities to maintain high standards of laboratory practice.
- Engage in customer service excellence, fostering respectful relationships with all stakeholders.
- Provide training and orientation to new staff and students under the guidance of laboratory leadership.
- Document all laboratory activities, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
Qualifications:
Licensure and Certification:
Required: Laboratory Licensure in relevant specialties or national certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist.
Education:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory sciences, or related fields.
Experience:
Preferred: Two years of relevant technical experience in a laboratory setting.
Skills:
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and laboratory information systems.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and compliance with infection control policies. Participate in performance improvement initiatives and contribute to the evaluation of new laboratory techniques.
