Position Overview:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II is responsible for executing a variety of laboratory tests in designated areas, as per licensing and certification. This role typically involves analytical testing of blood and other human biological samples, requiring a significant level of theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in the relevant licensed areas. Depending on the department, the role may also include various pre-analytical and post-analytical tasks, with the possibility of on-call duties. Adherence to laboratory policies and quality control practices is essential, alongside a commitment to exceptional customer service and respectful relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct pre-analytical tasks related to laboratory testing, including equipment maintenance, inventory management, and specimen processing.
• Execute all necessary tests and analytical procedures efficiently and accurately, in line with established protocols and performance standards.
• Report test results, including critical findings, following established guidelines and providing technical support related to laboratory testing for patients of all ages.
• Mentor and train new staff and medical technology students, documenting their orientation and training progress.
• Address customer service issues and provide guidance to laboratory technicians and support staff.
• Comply with safety policies, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and handling of hazardous materials.
• Engage in laboratory performance improvement initiatives and contribute to the evaluation of new laboratory techniques.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or related fields.
• Minimum of two years of relevant technical experience.
Licensure and Certification:
• Certification from recognized bodies such as American Medical Technologists or American Society for Clinical Pathology.
• State licensure as required for the specific department.

Preferred Skills:
• Strong technical abilities related to laboratory testing and procedures.
• Knowledge of compliance regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of maintaining accurate patient documentation.
