Your Role:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II is responsible for conducting a variety of laboratory tests in designated areas, as per licensing and certification requirements. This role typically involves the analytical examination of blood and other biological specimens.
Analytical testing necessitates a solid foundation of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the relevant licensed areas.
Depending on the specific department, the role may include various pre-analytical and post-analytical processes, and may require on-call duties.
You will adhere to laboratory protocols and maintain quality control standards, while actively engaging in exceptional customer service and fostering respectful relationships.Qualifications for Success:
Licensure and Certification:
Required:
- In states requiring licensure, appropriate laboratory licensure in relevant specialties
- In non-licensure states, a national certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist (e.g., ASCP, AAB, AMT) is required unless otherwise specified by state regulations
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or related fields
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of relevant technical experience
- Proficiency in laboratory testing and procedures
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
- Experience in training and mentoring new staff
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
Your Contributions:
In this role, you will:
- Conduct pre-analytical tasks, including equipment maintenance and specimen processing
- Perform all assigned tests accurately and efficiently, adhering to established standards
- Provide training and orientation to new employees and students
- Support laboratory operations and assist in the evaluation of new techniques
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with safety regulations
