Position Overview:

The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) II plays a crucial role in evaluating and interpreting laboratory results. This position involves analyzing blood and body fluids through both automated systems and intricate manual techniques, adhering to established protocols to guarantee the utmost quality of laboratory outcomes within designated timeframes.

Work Schedule:

  • Night Shift
  • Friday through Sunday or Friday through Monday; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Options available for either 3x12 or 4x10 shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and report routine laboratory tests in accordance with established protocols to ensure high-quality laboratory results.
  • Verify the accuracy and reliability of results and quality control data.
  • Perform, assess, and document all quality control, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer systems for ordering, reporting, and inquiries.
  • Ensure the proper use and preparation of reagents and supplies.
  • Communicate critical results to the appropriate patient caregiver.
  • Report unusual findings to the immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance in line with organizational policies.
  • Adhere to all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree required, along with successful completion of an accredited clinical laboratory training internship.

Licensure/Certification:

Must hold a current Florida license as a Medical Technologist, certified in the necessary specialties for the assigned laboratory sections. National certification from organizations such as ASCP, AAB, or AMT is preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required. Specific competencies may be necessary based on departmental assignments.
