Position Overview

Boston Ballet is in search of a dedicated and detail-oriented Development Associate to enhance the effectiveness of our Development Department. Reporting directly to the Development Operations Manager, this role is essential in providing comprehensive administrative support and fostering relationships that are vital for a successful fundraising program.

Key Responsibilities

Support for the Development Department

  • Streamline and document operational processes to boost the overall productivity of the Development team.
  • Collaborate with Artistic personnel to coordinate donor visits and deliver high-level benefits to key supporters.
  • Maintain precise donor records for various publications, including theater programs and online platforms.
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Chief Development Officer, including scheduling meetings and organizing departmental logistics.
  • Act as a liaison for the Boston Ballet Volunteer Association (BBVA).
  • Prepare stewardship reports and manage correspondence and mailings as required.

Support for Major Gifts and Visionaries' Circle

  • Assist the Director of Major Gifts with administrative tasks, including managing calendars and tracking donor interactions.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of special projects and stewardship initiatives for the EVW Visionaries' Circle.
  • Update and maintain the fundraising database with current donor information and engagement notes.

Event Coordination and Support

  • Manage event invitation lists, RSVP tracking, and data management within Tessitura.
  • Conduct research on attendees for high-profile events to enhance engagement.
  • Support event execution throughout the season, serving as a representative during events as needed.
  • Engage with guests in the VIP Lounge during performances, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of one year in an administrative, customer service, or development-related position.
  • A proactive learner with a growth mindset and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in creating impactful presentations.
  • Familiarity with fundraising principles and customer service best practices.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Willingness to work in the office at least two days per week and to accommodate weekend and evening hours as necessary.
