Position Overview
Boston Ballet is in search of a dedicated and detail-oriented Development Associate to play a vital role in our Development Department. Reporting directly to the Development Operations Manager, this individual will provide essential administrative support and help cultivate relationships that enhance our fundraising initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Support for the Development Department
- Streamline and document processes to enhance the efficiency of the Development team.
- Collaborate with Artistic staff to coordinate donor visits and deliver high-level benefits to our top supporters.
- Maintain precise donor listings for various publications, including theater programs and our website.
- Assist the Chief Development Officer with administrative tasks, including scheduling meetings and managing meeting spaces.
- Act as a liaison to the Boston Ballet Volunteer Association (BBVA).
- Prepare stewardship reports and draft correspondence as needed.
Support for Major Gifts and Visionaries' Circle
- Provide administrative assistance to the Director of Major Gifts, including managing calendars and donor communications.
- Contribute to the management and execution of special projects and stewardship efforts for the EVW Visionaries' Circle.
- Update the fundraising database with current donor information and contact notes.
Event Support
- Manage event invitation lists and RSVP forms, ensuring accurate data entry in our systems.
- Conduct research on attendees for high-profile events.
- Assist with event execution throughout the season, representing Boston Ballet as needed.
- Staff the VIP Lounge during performances, ensuring a welcoming environment for our guests.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of one year in an administrative, customer service, or development-related role.
- A proactive approach with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, achieving common goals.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in creating presentations.
- Understanding of fundraising principles and customer service best practices.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Willingness to work in the office at least two days per week and availability for evening and weekend hours during performance seasons.
