Position Overview

Boston Ballet is in search of a diligent and detail-oriented Development Associate to play a vital role within our Development Department. Reporting directly to the Development Operations Manager, this individual will provide essential administrative assistance and support to both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring the effectiveness of our fundraising initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Support for the Development Department

  • Enhance and document workflows to improve the overall efficiency of the Development team.
  • Collaborate with artistic personnel on donor engagement activities and premium benefit fulfillment for key supporters.
  • Maintain precise donor records for various publications, including theater programs and online platforms.
  • Offer administrative assistance to the Chief Development Officer, including scheduling meetings and coordinating logistics.
  • Act as a liaison for the Boston Ballet Volunteer Association.
  • Prepare stewardship reports and correspondence as required.

Major Gifts and Visionaries' Circle Support

  • Assist the Director of Major Gifts with administrative tasks, including managing calendars and donor communications.
  • Support the execution of special projects and stewardship activities for the Visionaries' Circle.
  • Update and maintain the fundraising database with relevant donor information.

Event Support and Coordination

  • Manage event invitation lists and RSVP tracking using Tessitura.
  • Conduct research on attendees for high-profile events.
  • Provide on-site support during events and assist in the planning process as needed.
  • Represent Boston Ballet at theater events, staffing the VIP Lounge during productions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of one year in an administrative, customer service, or development-related role.
  • A proactive learner with a growth mindset.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively towards shared goals.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in creating impactful presentations.
  • Familiarity with fundraising principles and customer service best practices.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Willingness to work in the office at least two days per week and to accommodate evening and weekend hours as necessary.
