Position Title: Patient Admission Coordinator

Position Summary: The Patient Admission Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing the pre-admission and admission processes for all patients at Mission Community Hospital. This position is essential in ensuring a welcoming and professional experience for patients and visitors, while efficiently gathering necessary information to facilitate smooth registration.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Interaction:

  1. Serve as the primary point of contact for patients and visitors, embodying the organization’s commitment to exceptional customer service.
  2. Exhibit professionalism and courtesy while conducting patient interviews to collect accurate information for registration.
  3. Maintain a positive demeanor that reflects the values of Mission Community Hospital in all interactions.
  4. Guide patients and visitors to their designated areas as required.

Communication Skills:

  1. Effectively communicate hospital policies and services to patients and visitors, ensuring clarity and respect.
  2. Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills when interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff.
  3. Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing customer service and clerical responsibilities.
  4. Recognize situations that may require managerial intervention and escalate appropriately.

Administrative Duties:

  1. Ensure all required patient forms are completed and signed to facilitate the admission process.
  2. Adhere to privacy regulations and organizational policies, including HIPAA compliance.
  3. Create and maintain comprehensive admission files for each patient, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected.
  4. Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility prior to admission.
  5. Notify relevant departments regarding patient admissions to ensure seamless processing.
  6. Utilize patient identifiers to maintain accuracy in the registration system.
  7. Conduct end-of-shift reconciliations of admissions and discharges to ensure accuracy.
  8. Handle financial transactions, including collecting payments and issuing receipts, in accordance with hospital policies.

Departmental Support:

  1. Support departmental policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
  2. Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  3. Collaborate with colleagues to improve processes and patient experiences.
  4. Complete required documentation and attend necessary training sessions.
Qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  2. At least one year of experience in patient registration or a related field preferred.
  3. Familiarity with medical terminology and third-party reimbursement processes.
  4. Strong communication skills; bilingual candidates are preferred.
  5. Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and assisting patients.
  6. Proficient in using computers and office equipment.
  7. Completion of mandatory training within the first 60 days of employment.

Physical and Working Conditions:
