Key Responsibilities:
The Healthcare Admissions Coordinator is tasked with gathering and confirming patient demographic details, verifying insurance benefits and eligibility. This role is crucial in assigning the appropriate medical record and account number, thereby ensuring a reliable database for accurate billing and clinical documentation.
WORK SCHEDULE:
This position operates on-site during the Swing shift from 3 PM to 11:30 PM, including rotating weekends and holidays.
Note:
Work hours may be adjusted based on business needs and patient volume.
Core Duties (include but are not limited to):
- Collect comprehensive and precise demographic and financial information from various sources, including patient interviews, physician offices, and internal departments.
- Secure necessary signatures on legal consents and insurance documentation.
- Conduct required pre-certification, credit referrals, or deposit collections. Accurately enter data into the computer system and thoroughly document any incomplete admissions/registrations as prescribed.
- Acquire pre-certification, referral, or authorization numbers and update patient files accordingly.
- Inform patients, family members, physicians, and/or supervisors about insurance coverage issues, and notify patients regarding co-payments, deductibles, or deposits required, documenting all information in the computer system.
- Review physician orders for completeness and ensure all necessary information is included.
- Complete Medicare Compliance and obtain ABN when necessary.
- Possess knowledge of all Federal, State, and Local laws related to insurance regulations and multiple computer systems.
- Maintain exceptional customer service at all times, directing unresolved issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Handle incoming calls, adhering to pre-established scripts while providing assistance to callers.
- Complete all shift responsibilities promptly and accurately.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures as defined by the organization.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED is required.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare environment or a high-volume customer service setting utilizing data entry skills, insurance processes, or various software applications, with a typing speed of at least 35 WPM.
- Familiarity with medical terminology or the ability to learn.
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in Emergency Department admissions.
Compensation:
The annual salary range for this position is $37,600.00 - $56,400.00. Compensation decisions are influenced by various factors, including skill sets, experience, training, security clearances, licensure, certifications, and other organizational needs.
