- Maintain a polished appearance in accordance with the organization's dress code.
- Assist in directing patients and visitors to appropriate areas within the facility.
Communication Duties:
- Clearly explain hospital policies and services to patients and visitors, ensuring they feel informed and respected.
- Engage professionally with patients, families, healthcare providers, and staff to facilitate effective communication.
- Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing customer service and clerical responsibilities.
- Recognize situations that require escalation to management for resolution.
- Ensure accurate communication of patient information to the Registration Department for complete admission processing.
Administrative Functions:
- Collect and verify patient signatures on all necessary documentation to complete the admission process.
- Adhere to privacy and confidentiality policies in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Compile and maintain comprehensive admission files for each patient, ensuring all required documents are included.
- Confirm insurance benefits and eligibility for each patient prior to admission.
- Notify relevant parties regarding patient admissions as required.
- Utilize patient identifiers to ensure accurate registration and safety protocols are followed.
Departmental Responsibilities:
- Support departmental policies and procedures to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
- Assist colleagues to enhance departmental operations and improve patient care processes.
- Complete required documentation and logs accurately at the end of each shift.
- Participate in mandatory meetings and training sessions to maintain professional development.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- At least one year of experience in patient admissions or medical office settings preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and third-party reimbursement processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical tasks related to patient care and office duties.
- Proficient in using computers and various office equipment.
- Completion of required training within the first 60 days of employment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to navigate the work environment safely.
- Visual and auditory capabilities to effectively communicate and understand information.
Work Environment:
Standard office conditions with necessary precautions in patient care areas.
