Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is looking for a Fire Sprinkler Inspector to support our operations.

This role involves conducting inspections of sprinkler systems in buildings, including testing equipment, documenting findings, and generating comprehensive reports. Responsibilities include assisting the Lead Inspector and/or Inspection Manager in gathering data and preparing necessary documentation (Sprinkler Inspection Reports, Quick Reports, and Inspection Certificates).

Compensation: $45.00/hr-$55.00/hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete all inspections promptly and ensure accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Test all building sprinkler control panels, devices, and system functions, recording results on a handheld device.
  • After inspections, download data and create a finalized Sprinkler Inspection Report.
  • Engage in monthly team meetings.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • A college degree is preferred; however, a high school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience is acceptable.
  • Familiarity with NFPA standards for fire protection system inspection and testing is essential. Stay updated on code requirements and industry developments, and pursue NICET certifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, along with a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Experience with sprinkler systems is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in using testing equipment, including sensitivity testers, multi-meters, battery analyzers, sound level meters, and communication devices.
  • Good networking PC skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and familiarity with Palm unit operating systems.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary for travel to job sites.
  • Punctuality is critical, especially for conducting sound tests before tenant arrivals.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Comply with the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work in industrial, commercial, and residential environments with moderate to high noise levels, and be comfortable working at heights.
  • This role is physically demanding, requiring standing, walking up stairs, and climbing ladders.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to be on the phone and computer consistently throughout the day.
