Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the energy and industrial processing sectors. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for engineering design services, working closely with a multi-discipline team of engineers and designers on upgrades to existing facilities and new projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with a multi-discipline team, clients, and collaborators to deliver high-quality engineering design services.
  • Proactively obtain necessary information and support to complete work on time, ensuring timely project delivery.
  • Balance workload and priorities across multiple projects, maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality.
  • Maintain and build strong professional relationships with colleagues and clients, fostering a culture of collaboration and open communication.
  • Perform clear calculations with schematics, references, and assumptions, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Size equipment such as pumps, tanks, non-fired pressure vessels, compressors, boilers, and heat exchangers, applying knowledge of fluid flow and thermodynamics.
  • Calculate pipe sizes for compressible and incompressible flows, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Develop a basic knowledge of pipe materials, valves, relief valves, and control valves, staying up-to-date with industry developments.
  • Coordinate with equipment suppliers, reviewing submittal documents and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  • Occasionally travel to project sites, other offices, or manufacturing plants, as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited college.
  • At least 10 years of experience working as an engineer, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, but not required.
  • Strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and a supportive team player with excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Experience creating flow diagrams and P&IDs, as well as writing equipment specifications.
  • Knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid flow, with familiarity with ASME B31.1 and ASME Section VIII.
  • Familiarity with TEMA, HI, HEI, CTI, NFPA, and other equipment codes and standards.
  • Experience with or desire to learn AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, AutoCAD (P&ID), and SmartPlant 3D.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of water treatment and/or wastewater treatment.
  • Experience in project engineering.
  • Simple-cycle or combined-cycle gas-fired power plant design experience.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy, hydrogen gas, pipe stress modeling software, and thermal plant modeling.
  • Experience working at a plant or jobsite.
  • Knowledge of HVAC and fire protection systems.
