Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is in search of a Fire Sprinkler Inspector to join our dynamic team.

This role involves conducting thorough inspections of sprinkler systems within buildings, which includes testing various devices, documenting findings, and preparing detailed reports. Responsibilities encompass assisting the Lead Inspector and/or Inspection Manager in gathering data and producing necessary documentation such as Sprinkler Inspection Reports, Quick Reports, and Inspection Certificates.

Compensation: $45.00/hr-$55.00/hr

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete all inspections promptly and ensure accuracy and thoroughness in all assessments.
  • Test all building sprinkler control panels, devices, and system functions, recording results using a handheld device.
  • After each inspection, download data and create a comprehensive Sprinkler Inspection Report.
  • Engage in monthly team meetings to discuss findings and improvements.
  • Carry out additional tasks as directed by management.

Qualifications:

  • A college degree is preferred; however, a high school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience is acceptable.
  • Familiarity with NFPA standards for fire protection system inspection and testing is essential. Stay updated on code requirements and industry developments, and pursue NICET certifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary, along with a customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Previous experience with sprinkler systems is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in using testing equipment such as sensitivity testers, multi-meters, battery analyzers, sound level meters, and communication devices.
  • Good computer networking skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Palm unit operating systems.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Punctuality is crucial, as sound tests must be conducted before tenant arrivals.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work in industrial, commercial, and residential environments with moderate to high noise levels, and comfort with heights.
  • This role is physically demanding, requiring standing, walking up stairs, and climbing ladders.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent use of phone and computer throughout the day.
