Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in the energy and industrial processing sectors. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing engineering design services, working closely with multi-discipline teams, and collaborating with clients to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering design services for energy and industrial processing projects, including upgrades to existing facilities and new projects.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-discipline teams, including engineers, designers, and project managers, to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and exceeded.
  • Perform calculations and sizing of equipment, including pumps, tanks, non-fired pressure vessels, compressors, boilers, and heat exchangers.
  • Calculate pipe sizes for compressible and incompressible flows.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of pipe materials, valves, relief valves, and control valves.
  • Coordinate with equipment suppliers and review submittal documents.
  • Occasionally travel to project sites, other offices, or manufacturing plants as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited college.
  • At least 10 years of experience working as an engineer, preferably in the energy and industrial processing sectors.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience creating flow diagrams and P&IDs.
  • Experience writing equipment specifications.
  • Knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid flow.
  • Familiarity with ASME B31.1 and ASME Section VIII.
  • Familiarity with TEMA, HI, HEI, CTI, NFPA, and other equipment codes and standards.
  • Experience with or desire to learn AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, AutoCAD (P&ID), and SmartPlant 3D.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of water treatment and/or wastewater treatment.
  • Experience in project engineering.
  • Simple-cycle or combined-cycle gas-fired power plant design experience.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy, hydrogen gas, pipe stress modeling software, and thermal plant modeling.
  • Experience working at a plant or jobsite.
  • Knowledge of HVAC and fire protection systems.
