Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Reliability and Maintainability Engineer to join our dedicated Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) Engineering team. This role involves a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to planning, designing, developing, and verifying a lifecycle-balanced system of systems and solutions.

The successful candidate will assess customer and operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and ensure compatibility across all physical, functional, and program interfaces. Key responsibilities include conducting various analyses to optimize the total system architecture, focusing on affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, and other critical quality factors to guarantee mission success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize modeling, simulation, and data analytics methodologies, including statistical and probabilistic analyses.
  • Act as a technical expert supporting other design groups throughout all phases of the airplane product development and support lifecycle.
  • Assist in determining program technical performance measures (TPMs) such as schedule reliability, operational availability, and maintenance costs.
  • Provide support in areas such as Design for Reliability & Safety, including validation and verification of reliability requirements, failure modes and effects analysis, and safety certification support.

Collaboration with airplane system suppliers, business partners, airline customers, and program leaders is essential. The role requires effective communication within the R&M Engineering organization and across functional design areas. Regular duties will involve teamwork, problem-solving, and managing multiple tasks and assignments.

Qualifications:

Education and experience typically acquired through advanced technical education in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor’s degree) along with 9 or more years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., PhD with 4 years of related experience, Master’s with 7 years of related experience). ABET accreditation is preferred in the USA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with propulsion or airplane systems.
  • Background in reliability engineering.
  • Familiarity with Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
  • Experience in Commercial Airplane Certification.
