The Airplane Performance team, part of the Flight Sciences division, is seeking Senior ETOPS Engineers (Level 3) to enhance the ETOPS/F&R/Cold Soak team.
This team’s primary mission is to ensure that Boeing aircraft are meticulously designed, constructed, tested, and maintained for Extended Operations (ETOPS), particularly for long-range flights over water, allowing our clients to optimize their flight paths.
ETOPS involves stringent regulations and certification processes, emphasizing safety, aircraft maintenance, and operational protocols. Additionally, the team is responsible for Function & Reliability (F&R) to guarantee that Boeing aircraft meet reliability standards upon entering service.
Another critical responsibility includes Cold Soak, which focuses on developing and validating operational procedures for aircraft in cold weather conditions.
Collaboration with Boeing engineers and certification experts is essential to ensure all necessary activities for ETOPS/F&R/Cold Soak certification of both commercial and military aircraft are successfully executed.
As an ETOPS/F&R/Cold Soak Engineer, you will support various airplane programs, including new, amended, and supplemental type certifications, as well as significant modification initiatives.
Your role will involve coordinating, planning, preparing, reviewing, and executing certification work for ETOPS/F&R/Cold Soak, ultimately submitting documentation to certification authorities.
This position offers a unique opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of aircraft systems and engage with multiple disciplines, including propulsion, flight controls, avionics, safety, maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize project management methodologies to create and manage ETOPS/F&R/Cold Soak certification plans.
- Collaborate with engineers across various domains to secure ETOPS certification for critical systems.
- Generate analytical and reliability assessments for ETOPS.
- Review safety evaluations related to ETOPS missions and diversions.
- Establish configuration and conformity requirements for ETOPS/F&R/Cold Soak, negotiating with relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and validate procedures for Cold Weather Operations and Maintenance.
- Partner with flight test teams to define ETOPS/F&R/Cold Soak testing requirements.
- Address and document technical challenges impacting ETOPS/F&R/Cold Soak certification.
- Facilitate communication and meetings with regulatory bodies and internal teams.
- Participate in program meetings and project evaluations.
- Assist clients with ETOPS/Cold Soak inquiries and monitor in-service reliability.
This position requires full-time onsite presence.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related fields.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in commercial aircraft certification.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects.
- Familiarity with development programs, production support, or sustainment engineering.
- Willingness to support flight testing as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Over 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education.
- Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Knowledge of ETOPS regulations and standards.
- Experience in airplane flight testing.
