Job Overview

The Commercial Account Manager is responsible for establishing and nurturing relationships with leading engineers and mechanical/commercial contractors within the designated territory. The primary objective is to enhance the specification of product lines in the projects these firms undertake, thereby increasing sales volume through our Wholesale Distribution Partners. A mindset focused on professionalism and continuous improvement is essential for managing these relationships and driving the conversion of specifications into purchase orders.

Key Responsibilities:

The Commercial Account Manager serves as the pivotal relationship builder at the engineer and commercial contractor levels. This role involves:

  • Engaging primarily with top engineers and mechanical/commercial plumbing contractors, as well as the subcontractors and distributors they collaborate with.
  • Employing a team-oriented approach to facilitate purchase orders, requiring expert communication and effective utilization of both internal and external resources.
  • Prospecting and cultivating deep relationships within contractor and engineer organizations, developing product programs, and maintaining accurate databases and reports.
  • Securing commitments from engineers and contractors regarding specifications and programs, while providing ongoing support and training.
  • Ensuring close and consistent communication with Wholesale Account Managers and manufacturer sales personnel to facilitate collaboration and information sharing.

By actively engaging in these responsibilities, the Commercial Account Manager will contribute to the successful specification and program usage that generates purchase orders.

Expectations:

The Commercial Account Manager at Pepco is expected to:

  • Utilize CRM systems for real-time data entry and project tracking.
  • Adopt a proactive approach to prospecting for new projects and opportunities.
  • Leverage technology to achieve sales objectives.
  • Continuously enhance technical product knowledge for effective training and presentations.
  • Exhibit professional presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Innovatively utilize marketing resources from internal teams and manufacturers.
  • Demonstrate leadership within local trade associations.
  • Accountably support manufacturers in achieving their commercial construction goals.
Required Skills:

To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Familiarity with CRM platforms.
  • Strong rapport-building abilities with clients.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
  • Excellent phone and email communication skills.
  • Expertise in networking, prospecting, and presentation.
Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience is required, along with a clean driving and credit record. Previous experience in HVAC and/or plumbing, along with established relationships with engineers and mechanical contractors in the industry, is highly desirable.
