WIN Waste Innovations is a leading waste management organization dedicated to providing essential waste management solutions to communities and customers, supported by a skilled workforce of 2,300 employees. As a vertically integrated enterprise, WIN Waste Innovations operates a network of 50 strategically positioned collection, transfer, and disposal facilities. This includes waste-to-energy plants, transfer stations, ash monofills, landfills, and a fleet of rail cars and collection vehicles. We process over 11 million tons of waste each year, converting 6.7 million tons into clean, renewable energy that powers 340,000 homes. Additionally, we recycle more than 234,000 tons of plastics, paper, and metals from the waste stream.

The Strategic Business Analyst role will assist the Post-Collection Waste Sales and Marketing team in achieving strategic and analytical objectives. This position entails supporting market planning, disposal assessments, CRM management, mapping, financial analysis, and business development initiatives. As an individual contributor, this role aligns with WIN Waste Innovations' primary strategic goal of optimizing waste mix and pricing, focusing on the supply of municipal solid waste, construction and demolition debris, industrial waste, and special waste into our network of Waste to Energy, Transfer Station, and Landfill facilities. Candidates must exhibit exceptional attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple priorities while adhering to deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential, with preference given to candidates possessing experience in waste management, particularly in post-collection sales and operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain comprehensive customer databases and CRM systems, ensuring meticulous attention to detail regarding all post-collection customer accounts, contracts, credit statuses, expiration dates, and other critical customer attributes.
  • Manage corporate accounts receivable governance procedures for establishing and updating customer rates in back-office and scale systems, ensuring synchronization between CRM and customer list systems.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly variance reports for operational facilities and corporate departments.
  • Develop and sustain detailed forecasting and management tools that integrate with financial plans, ensuring the business maintains a clear understanding of its current and near-term performance.
  • Create analytical reports to facilitate timely and comprehensive financial planning regarding pricing, volume, and material mix for the VP of Fuel Sourcing, Senior Leadership Team, and Board.
  • Assist in the formulation of detailed market plans to guide all pricing, volume, infrastructure, and acquisition decisions.
  • Collaborate on annual budget creation in alignment with other functional groups and corporate objectives, incorporating detailed customer information.
  • Conduct complex financial analyses, pricing studies, and scenario modeling to assess competitive positioning and growth opportunities across various markets. Undertake thorough modeling to support the development of both short and long-term strategic and tactical plans for the markets in which WIN Waste Innovations operates.
  • Comprehend contractual agreements and their implications for business profitability.
  • Support the preparation of materials for board and lender meetings.
  • Provide senior management with timely and accurate information to facilitate effective decision-making.
  • Create and maintain electronic and printed maps that illustrate company assets, market intelligence, and corporate mergers and acquisition efforts.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or Engineering, with a minimum of 5 years of financial experience.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in waste management, particularly in post-collection sales and operations.
  • Expertise in Financial Modeling.
  • Proficient in Data Analysis.
  • Strong background in Strategic Planning.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and vlookups.
  • Familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications (e.g., PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate effectively across various functional disciplines, including sales, FP&A, accounting, IT, and engineering.
  • Experience with visual mapping tools (e.g., Maptitude, Map Point).

Preferred:

  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
  • Demonstrated strong presentation skills; assists in developing polished presentations for executive leadership.
