Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated, reliable, and organized individual to lead our volunteer tax assistance initiative. The ideal candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work autonomously, attention to detail, logical reasoning, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and nurture community partnerships, conduct outreach efforts, and secure support for the program.
  • Recruit, train, and provide ongoing support to volunteers involved in the tax preparation program.
  • Ensure compliance with IRS and state tax regulations while overseeing tax preparation services.
  • Manage daily operations at seasonal tax assistance sites, including setup and breakdown, supervising volunteer tax preparers and reviewers, managing client flow, and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Screen, prepare, and review individual federal and state tax returns, as well as property tax or renters credit applications.
  • Contribute to program planning, goal setting, evaluation strategies, measuring outcomes, and reporting activities to stakeholders as required.
  • Assist in grant writing and foster relationships with potential partners and funding sources.
Compensation and Benefits

The wage range for this position is $21.67-$26.01 per hour, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid holidays, personal days, PTO, health/dental/life insurance, employee assistance programs, and a 403b retirement savings match, along with opportunities for professional development.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of a two-year degree in accounting, business, or a related field, along with three years of relevant experience, or a combination of five years of experience and/or education.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality of client personal and financial information.
  • Proficient in tax preparation software and capable of passing annual IRS filing examinations.
  • Experience working effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, including collaboration with external community organizations.
  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Willingness to travel within the service area.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience in volunteer management and bilingual proficiency (Somali/Spanish).
